The Philadelphia Phillies are back home after a tough weekend against the San Francisco Giants about the west shore. The Phillies lost three of four games. Bryce Harper had pleasure telling fans to be quiet after a clutch home run in their single win, however three of four declines will be nothing to get excited about. And that has been the problem with Bryce this year, he would show up and knock into a clutch hit once a month.
That is not enough for a man getting his pay. We’re entering clutch season, so for the Phillies, the very best is yet to include Harper. Like I’ve mentioned before, when he catches fire and leads the Phillies into a deep postseason series, all will soon be forgotten due to his earlier conflicts.
If Harper had been playing well all year, the Phillies are likely threatening the Braves right now. I would need ten hands to count the number of times he’s had a chance to bust a game open and he drops short. Pitching wins games in the postseason. Everyone understands that and Bryce along with his 330 million-dollar contract has to counter this. In any case, the Phillies have to think about getting to the postseason.
The Phillies are not going into the postseason when the Wild Card Game was now. They’re just two matches, using the afternoon off yesterday so that they weren’t about to improve. The Nationals and Cardinals are holding onto leads. It is still anybody’s branch now. Even the Diamondbacks who traded away their genius are in the mixture.
That does not speak to how good the middle of this National League is. It’s been fairly poor and the only whole team in the NL to speak of was the Dodgers. The Phillies welcome a Cubs team That Are beneath the NL Central by 2 games over the Cardinals. Philadelphia is the second stop on their road trip following a split in Cincinnati against the Reds. The Cubs acquired some positive news on Sunday with the attempt by Jon Lester. He showed up and pitched a decent game to get out of a funk. Lester was struggling mightily which would be a step in the ideal way . He managed to best ace Luis Castillo and direct the Cubs to a 6-3 triumph.
A split for the Cubs on the road is an improvement. Considering they have a listing of 23-35 on the road, .500 is far better compared to their general campaign for a visitor this year. The Cubs will be on the street for the following six games before going back to Wrigley.
They expect to not just win three more games, though. Jose Quintana will be tasked with leading the pitching staff for the Cubs that day. He moves using a respectable ERA of both all 4.23 in 129.2 innings. That is on pace for his profession, so no surprises in Quintana.
He has allowed 5 home runs and 15 runs contrary to the Phillies at 139 at-bats. Quintana was slightly worse flying in the road, posting a 4.34 ERA along with 1.41 WHIP around the street. His most recent showing contrary to the Phillies was a triumph in a 3-2 triumph, but that was at Wrigley Field.
Former New York Met, Jason Vargas will look to settle in for the Phillies. Vargas was the sole performer who ended up getting moved after all of those rumors . No Wheeler or even Syndergaard, however, only Vargas.
He was eloquent in his introduction with the Phillies, allowing two runs against the White Sox at 6.1 innings in the home. It was a separate story for him on the road against the Diamondbacks at Arizona, since he had been hit 4 runs in 5 innings.
Vargas has played better at home in 2019, submitting a 2.92 ERA and 1.18 WHIP instead of some 5.23 ERA along with 1.33 WHIP on the street. The Phillies as a team have been better in the home with a list of 34-26. Philadelphia are among the most hot and cold teams in the majors.
Following the screen they place on San Francisco, the public will likely be on the Cubs here. This is the Phillies, though, and they look like another team series-to-series. I am on the Phillies as small residence puppies Tuesday night.
